WHY COME TO THIS CAREER FAIR?

During the fall of 2005, several employers were seeking only civil and coastal engineering applicants for anticipated job openings and met with the chair of the Department of Civil & Coastal Engineering. It was pointed out that while they were receiving applicants from the UF Career Showcase event, their time would be better spent just meeting with the students from within the department. So, as was requested, the Department of Civil & Coastal Engineering hosted its first event in January 2006.

Then in 2011, when ESSIE was established, the Department of Environmental Engineering Sciences was included and we have been going strong ever since.

Our event continues to be a niche event serving employers who are seeking only Civil, Coastal or Environmental engineers for open employment opportunities and internships. Our students appreciate that the event is open only to students in ESSIE and provides them with excellent opportunities for networking from the first-term freshman to the graduating Ph.D. student.

For Credit Card: We’ve established a new fund to accept contributions from participating employers. The “ESSIE Evening with Industry Fund” supports the same student programming and departmental excellence that your support always has. Please update your payment system to direct your Evening with Industry contributions to this fund. You can make contributions directly online and enter the $1200 donation under the “Other” category.
