Is a masters degree required to apply for the Ph.D. program?
No. You can apply to the Ph.D. program with a bachelor’s degree.

There is not a separate application for funding. Any completed application that is submitted by the application deadline will be considered for any potential funding the department may have at that time.

Read more »Do I need to submit official transcripts with my application?
No, we can use unofficial transcripts to get the review started on your application. However, if you are granted admission official transcripts are required and a registration hold will be placed on your account until they are received.

Read more »Can I apply after the deadline?
Unfortunately, no. We have these deadlines in place. It takes time to process your application. If your application does not have all of the required documents by 11:59 pm on the application deadline day you will need to either cancel or defer your application. We can defer applications for up to one year.
Read more »Are letters of recommendation required?
Yes, all applicants must submit 3 letters of recommendation. At least 2 letters of recommendation should be from academic based references. For applicants pursuing the Transportation Leadership concentration, only 2 letters of recommendation are required.

The Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) verifications are not required for master-level/Ph.D. applicants.
